South Downs Gateway Churches

The stone church dates from the 13th Century and has a ring of six bells in the tower. The bellringers practise on the first Tuesday of each month and ring for services by arrangement.

The splendid William Hill organ was installed in 2013. Purchased from a Methodist Church in Farnham, it was restored by Geoff Griffiths in the same year, replacing the organ built by Richard Boston of Owslebury Farm. See Owslebury Organs for more detailed information.

The churchyard is maintained by regular Churchyard Working Parties throughout the summer, with both members of the congregation and local residents coming together to keep it a lovely place to be.

The church has strong links with Owslebury Primary School, with ‘School Services’ at Christmas, Easter and Harvest, and works closely with the Owslebury and Morestead Community Association (OMCA), which also offers financial support to help keep the fabric of the church in good order.

St Andrew’s has a Silver Eco Award and is pleased to host Owslebury’s environmental group (GrOws) for many of their meetings (see Eco-Church page). The church is also the rehearsal and concert venue for Owslebury’s community choir, St Andrew’s Voices, which is a source of joy to many villagers (see Community Choirs).

The church is supported by a loyal group of volunteers who clean the church, arrange flowers and play the organ.

Services are held weekly at 11am on the first three Sundays of the month. On 4th Sundays, a joint Benefice service is held in one of our 4 churches, and there is usually an evening service on 5th Sundays. Our Prayer Group meets in the church on Saturdays at 9am and Messy Church meets in the Village Hall on 3rd Sundays (see separate pages under Praying and Church Life). Please refer to the Calendar on the website home page and pew sheet for up-to-date information.
